Discover what it means to work with the smartest people in the industry, solving the most challenging problems our customers can dream up and throw at you. Work from home, with some required travel. Great benefits, flexible hours, and a chance to be part of a company that's changing the industry.
Percona is the oldest and largest independent MySQL support and consulting company with a global, 24x7 staff of nearly 100 serving more than 2,000 customers in 50+ countries since 2006.
** You can work remotely from anywhere in North, Central, or South America, but will need to be able to travel to company events, meetings, conferences, etc.**
Percona is seeking a full-time Perl programmer to help develop Percona Toolkit. This is a great opportunity to begin a career with an industry-leading company, developing professional, best-of-class Perl programs used by leading web companies and thousands of users.
This job entails a lot of Perl and MySQL, as Percona Toolkit is a collection of tools for MySQL. We also use Bash, though we still encourage you to apply even if you are not familiar with Bash or a MySQL expert. We’ll help you master what you need to know.
We follow Perl best practices, design clean and sane code, and test heavily. Since Percona Toolkit has 20+ tools, there are always a lot of different tasks happening: fixing bugs both large and small, gross and subtle; refactoring code; rewriting tools; profiling and optimizing code; etc. We also develop special projects on occasion, too. Therefore, the work is dynamic, making it fun and interesting!
The position is open to mid and high level experienced programmers. Although Percona Toolkit is free, open-source software, it is developed and maintained with extremely high standards because the tools are used by many companies for mission-critical operations. Therefore, the ideal candidate must be ready and willing to develop professionally and deliver professional results, becoming a self-sufficient master in the field who is able to fix or implement anything.
